Tau Beta Pi was founded in 1885, making it the second oldest Greek-letter honor society in America. It serves to recognize and support the outstanding academic achievement and exemplary character of deserving students in engineering. Eligibility into this honor society is selective, requiring juniors to be in the top 1/8th and seniors in the top 1/5th of their respective classes. Additionally, the student must have demonstrated integrity, adaptability, breadth of interest, and a record of unselfish service.
