Book Club
Book Club
This semester, we are starting a "book club", where we dedicate a portion of our meeting discussing ideas or concepts that we have read from books outside our respective curricula. We have curated a diverse list of book recommendations which was inspired by articles about books every engineers and engineering students should read. Our list includes the following:
Members that share lessons from their piece of readings will be given points. Additionally, with our points system the members are given the chance to claim some of their earned points to get a free paperback copy of a book of their choice. The purpose of these regular sessions is to encourage our members to seek knowledge beyond the material given in their required courses, which would give them an advantage and a unique perspective as thinkers, inventors, and innovators.
October 2020 Points System
To encourage active participation in the chapter, we have re-established a points system where members are rewarded with a certain number of points for participation, depending on the amount of work given. Attending meetings and chapter events are examples of ways of obtaining points, and additional points are given for extra contribution. The points can be claimed for discount where 1 point is $1 off the purchase of TBP graduation regalia.
